Bedroom Shutters

Choose bedroom shutters around three things: privacy, morning light and window access. We help you compare full coverage, separate louvre control and additional blackout blinds.

Control the view into the room

Full height shutters cover the whole opening. With split tilt, the lower louvres can screen the bed while the upper section admits daylight. Tier on tier adds upper panels that swing open independently.

Check privacy from the actual overlooking direction, including neighbouring upper floors. Tilting the louvres changes sightlines but is not a one-way screen. We help position rails and divisions around the window and your furniture.

Add a blind when darkness matters

Standard shutters reduce incoming light but leave small gaps at the louvres, frame and panel joins. If early daylight disturbs your sleep, ask about an integrated honeycomb blackout blind or a compatible roller blind behind the shutters.

We check the recess depth, handles and access to the blind before specifying a combined arrangement. Edge details influence the final result. We offer motorised roller blinds and agree the control arrangement with the specification.

Compare solid panels with louvred shutters

Solid hardwood shutters cover the glass with opaque panels. They create a traditional panelled finish, but you open the panels themselves to admit daylight rather than tilt individual louvres.

Think about bedside tables, curtains and wardrobes beside the window. Both solid and louvred panels need an opening plan for ventilation and cleaning. On a bay, we check every face and corner so the panels can be used comfortably.

Plan your budget

A plain bedroom window and a large bay require different amounts of material and fitting work. A blackout blind adds its own specification. We quote for the agreed combination so you can compare the complete installed cost.

Your questions answered

Are bedroom shutters blackout?

Standard shutters are not complete blackout. A compatible blackout blind can reduce light further, with the result depending on the full fitting and its edges.

Are café shutters suitable for a bedroom?

They leave the upper glass exposed, so offer less complete privacy and light control. Full height or tier on tier often gives more flexibility.

Can I open the window at night?

The layout is planned around the window opening and catches. You may need to open shutter panels to reach the handle or move the sash.

Can you fit shutters in a child’s bedroom?

We can assess the window and specify a suitable layout. Any additional blind controls must also be considered; we explain safe use and the supplied operating system at fitting.
