Shutter blinds supplied and fitted

Our service brings the measurements, shutter specification and fitting together. Choose full-height, café style or tier-on-tier shutters, with the frame layout planned around how you use each room. We help you decide on the material, louvre size and controls before your order is made.

Whether you call them plantation shutters or shutter blinds, installation needs more than the right width and height. The panels should open comfortably, the louvres should tilt freely and the finish should sit neatly against your surrounding joinery.

01 / Measure and plan

Fitted window shutters: measured for your home

We measure at several points and check the recess depth, sill, handles, catches and fixing surfaces. We look at how the window opens and where the shutter panels will sit when folded back. Radiators, furniture and nearby walls can all affect the layout.

For bays, the angles and adjoining panels need to work together. On sash windows, we consider the meeting rail, access to catches and the space needed to clean the glass. Samples help you agree the material, finish and louvre size before manufacture.

Photos and approximate dimensions are useful for an initial estimate. The final order uses the surveyed measurements and agreed design.

02 / Fit to the opening

Interior shutter installation and inside mount shutters

Inside mount shutters sit within the window recess. At the survey we check that there is enough depth for the frame and for the louvres to turn without touching handles or glazing. If the recess is shallow or obstructed, we discuss a suitable frame position around the opening.

An older window reveal may taper or sit out of square. We position and secure the shutter frame to provide the alignment the panels need, using suitable packing and finishing where required. Any scribing or trim is planned to suit the frame and surrounding joinery.

The fixing method depends on the surveyed surface and chosen shutter system. We check the condition of the opening and discuss any preparation or repair that needs doing before installation.

Clearance matters on doors as well as windows. Handles must remain usable, louvres need space to tilt and panels must open without catching nearby fittings.

03 / Adjust and demonstrate

Plantation shutter installation by experienced carpenters

Hanging plantation shutters starts with a secure, aligned frame. We then hang the panels and check their alignment, closure and movement. We adjust the hinges as needed, test the louvres and check the agreed window and handle access.

We finish the frame edges to suit the agreed installation, tidy the work area and show you how to open the panels and operate the controls. If you have split tilt or tier-on-tier shutters, we explain which sections move independently.

Small clearances around moving parts are normal. Standard plantation shutters control light and privacy, but they do not create a complete blackout seal.

Fitting shutters to bay windows

A bay needs a coordinated layout across its individual faces. We measure each section and the angles between them, then plan the corner posts, frame positions and panel widths together. This helps the shutters meet neatly and leaves practical space for opening and cleaning.

On sash bays, we consider the meeting rails and catches when positioning divisions. Nearby walls, radiators and furniture can restrict where panels fold back. These details are checked before manufacture, whether you choose full-height, café style or independently opening upper and lower tiers.

Home shutter installation: what to expect on fitting day

Before we arrive

Clear the sills and make space around the windows. Let us know about parking, access restrictions and any existing coverings that need attention.

While we fit

Allow access to the rooms being fitted. There can be drilling, some noise and dust; we protect the working area and tidy up afterwards. The scope and appointment length are agreed for your order.

Before we leave

We check operation with you and explain care and day-to-day use. Raise any questions about the panels, controls or finish so we can go through them together.

Window shutter installation cost

The cost of plantation shutters installed depends on the number and size of openings, material, panel layout and fitting access. Our quotations cover measuring, supply and installation, so you can see the full scope before you order. A bay with several frames will involve different fitting work from a small straight window. Use our installed price examples as a starting point, then book a survey for a written quote.

Shutter installation questions

Is installation included in my shutter quote?

Our service covers measuring, supply and fitting. Your written quotation sets out the agreed shutters and installation work. The pricing calculator gives indicative installed examples; the surveyed specification determines your final quote.

Who installs the shutters?

Our installations are carried out by experienced carpenters. They fit the frames, hang and adjust the panels, and check that the shutters operate correctly in your window.

How long does shutter installation take?

The number of windows, panel layout, fixing surfaces and access all affect the fitting time. We confirm the expected appointment length when arranging your installation. Manufacturing and delivery are separate from the time spent fitting in your home.

How should I prepare for fitting day?

Clear ornaments from the sill and move furniture away from the window where practical. Make sure there is a safe route to each room. Tell us in advance about difficult access, parking restrictions, pets or anything that could affect the appointment. Agree any removal of existing blinds or curtains with us beforehand.

Can you fit shutters to uneven or older windows?

Often, yes. We measure the opening at several points and check the fixing surfaces, depth and alignment. The frame and finishing approach are planned around the actual opening. Any window repairs needed before fitting should be agreed separately.

Will I still be able to open my windows?

Window movement and handle clearance are part of the survey. Depending on the layout, you may need to open the shutter panels before operating the window. We also plan access for cleaning and show you how the completed arrangement works.

Do you install shutters bought elsewhere?

This page describes our measured, supplied and fitted shutter service. If you already have shutters, contact us with photos and product details so we can discuss your request before any work is agreed.

Can I fit my own shutters?

DIY fitting is possible with a suitable product and the right skills, but you take responsibility for the measurements, fixing choice and alignment. If you prefer a complete service, we measure, supply and fit your shutters. Bay angles, shallow recesses and uneven openings are useful reasons to discuss professional fitting before ordering.

Does wood shutter installation differ from PVC fitting?

The frame, hinges and fixings must suit the chosen shutter system, panel size and opening. We plan hardwood, faux wood and waterproof PVC installations around their specifications and the room conditions. Material choice is agreed at the survey.

Can you replace existing interior window shutters?

Send us photographs of the existing shutters and window opening. We can discuss a new measured, supplied and fitted installation, including any removal or preparation that needs to be included in the quotation. Existing frames cannot automatically be reused for a different shutter system.

What warranty comes with the shutters?

Our hardwood and faux wood ranges have a 10-year product warranty; waterproof PVC has a 5-year warranty. Ask us for the applicable terms for your chosen range. After fitting, contact us if you need help with operation or an adjustment.
