Plantation Shutters London

Plantation shutters are framed interior panels with adjustable louvres. Tilt them for daylight and privacy, or open the panels for access to the glass. We measure, supply and fit them across London.

Start with how much of the window to cover

Full height shutters cover the whole opening. Café shutters cover the lower glass and keep the upper window clear. Tier on tier shutters add separate upper and lower doors, so you can open one tier while the other stays closed.

For a front room, think about the view from the pavement as well as the view out. For a bedroom, full coverage is usually more useful than leaving the top glass uncovered. Panel opening space matters just as much as appearance.

Choose the material for the room

Austin and Newport are our hardwood ranges. Mayfair and Battersea offer faux wood options, while Dulwich waterproof PVC is an option for bathrooms and other damp spaces. Finish, louvre size and shaped-panel availability depend on the range.

Compare physical samples in your own room before choosing. The survey also checks panel dimensions, exposure to moisture and the room needed for hinges and handles. A whole-home order can combine materials while keeping a coordinated look.

Louvre size and control change the view

Our collection includes 47mm, 63mm, 76mm, 89mm and 114mm louvres, with availability varying by range. We recommend 76mm as a starting point for an open look, then check clearance and proportions against your window.

Split louvre control lets you tilt upper and lower sections separately within a full height panel. It differs from tier on tier, where the upper and lower doors themselves open separately. We show you which arrangement suits the privacy you need.

Your questions answered

Are plantation shutters the same as wooden shutters?

Plantation describes the louvred design, not the material. We offer hardwood, faux wood and waterproof PVC ranges.

Can plantation shutters make a room completely dark?

Standard louvred shutters reduce light but have small gaps around moving parts. For a darker room, compare shutters with an integrated blackout blind.

Can I open the window with shutters fitted?

We plan the frames and panel opening around the window. Some windows require the shutter panels to be opened first; catches, handles and ventilation are checked at survey.

Do you measure and install in London?

Yes. We offer a free home survey with samples, a bespoke quotation and fitting by experienced carpenters. Send your postcode and the windows you have in mind.
